As the curtain drops...
This project called life, like the many projects within it, is not without hurdles. But in the end, like an interesting novel, it finds a way to come all together into one superlative, beautiful story
You can prepare for your wedding down to the tee, but here’s something you can never see coming: losing the goats that are to be presented as part of the bride price in the early hours of the morning of the introduction. This is just how life can unfold in very unpredictable ways.
I would love to tell this story of the misplaced goats. I mean, how do you misplace three goats? Not one, not two, three! But it isn’t mine to tell, at least not yet.
As the year comes to an end, I am reflecting on this—the unpredictability of life. Sometimes it's serendipitous; other times, not so much. Through this year, I’ve had strangers come to my assistance in very big ways. I’ve reconnected with persons who I met randomly some years back. I’ve watched friends be recipients of pleasant surprises. There have been a lot of wins. Through the year still, I’ve also watched people’s lives take a sharp turn in very unexpected ways—an accident, an illness, a business failure, a heartbreak. This project called life, like the many projects within it, is not without hurdles. But in the end, like an interesting novel, it finds a way to come all together into one superlative, beautiful story.
Though the goats got missing and could not be presented as part of the bride price, the introduction happened and the wedding went on. My guys are now happily married with a child. I’ve learnt to celebrate it all, the wins, the losses, and everything in between. I’ve learnt to find peace in the bigger picture.
As the curtain drops, take a minute to celebrate what has been: the smiles, the tears, the jaw drops, the stress. Everything. The story is being written.
Now that that has been said, I wish you the best the season has to bring; hope you do have a nice time with friends and family. Happy New Year in advance! Cheers to 2025!!
